A Tenth Anniversary Celebration in St. Moritz
Frozen lakes, flying Diablos, and the return of the Countach Pace Car: this is how legends celebrate legacy.

St. Moritz has seen its fair share of glamour — but rarely does it witness heritage quite like this.

In February 2025, Lamborghini Polo Storico marked its tenth anniversary with an unforgettable alpine weekend, setting the tone for a year-long celebration of craftsmanship, authenticity, and collector culture.

For those in the know, Polo Storico isn’t just a department. It’s the soul of Lamborghini's historical narrative. Since 2015, it has restored icons, certified provenance, and given new life to classic machines that shaped the supercar genre. And in the snowbound theatre of Switzerland’s Engadin Valley, the brand kicked off its anniversary with elegance, exclusivity, and just a touch of theatre.

“Programmes like Polo Storico are the future of the collector world — authenticity you can trust, craftsmanship that endures, and records that tell the full story.”

The weekend began in classic Lamborghini fashion — private, rarefied, and just slightly surreal. A select circle of Polo Storico collectors gathered for an intimate dinner at Balthazar Downtown, overlooking the frozen surface of Lake St. Moritz. There, beneath the stars and Alpine air, the centrepiece of the celebration quite literally took flight.

Perched on a panoramic terrace, a Lamborghini Diablo SE 30 — finished in dazzling Lambo Thirty purple — stunned guests and passersby alike. Elevated above the town, it appeared to hover, a 90s icon reimagined as sculpture. Created to mark Lamborghini’s 30th anniversary back in 1993, this particular SE 30 now played a new role: symbol of reverence for the brand’s living past.

Yet the story didn’t stop there.

Icons on Ice: The Countach and the Miura SV

Down below, history moved under its own power.

Two more legends arrived on the frozen lake to take part in The I.C.E. St. Moritz, the renowned concours d’elegance held — quite literally — on ice.

First was the Countach LP400 S Pace Car, famous for serving as the official safety car during the 1981 and 1982 Monaco Grand Prix. This wasn’t a tribute or replica — it was the original car, currently undergoing Polo Storico certification to lock in its place in history.

Flanking it was a Miura SV, resplendent in red and previously certified by Polo Storico in 2018. As the final and most potent evolution of the Miura line, the SV marked the end of the 1960s and the birth of the modern supercar era. It was, and still is, an automotive sculpture with the heart of a bull.

The public response was immediate and impassioned. The Miura SV earned The Hero Below Zero award — a prize decided not by judges, but by popular acclaim. Proof that, even in the age of electric hypercars, raw heritage and honest beauty still stir the soul.

The St. Moritz event wasn’t just about spectacle. It was about connection — between the brand and its believers and between the cars and their caretakers.

As Alessandro Farmeschi, Lamborghini’s After Sales Director, noted:

“Together, in the last ten years we’ve worked on unique projects, certified exceptional cars, and promoted the history of our brand around the world.”

This idea — that collectors aren’t just owners, but custodians — is central to Polo Storico’s ethos. Each certification is a commitment. Each restoration, a respectful resurrection.

And the gathering in St. Moritz reflected this perfectly: private but passionate, elite but rooted in shared love for the machines.

The snowbound weekend was just the start. Polo Storico’s tenth anniversary will continue with a calendar of exclusive international events.

Next up is the Anantara Concours d’Elegance in Rome this April — a new showcase dedicated entirely to Italian classic cars, where Lamborghini’s heritage will parade through the heart of the Eternal City.

More events will follow throughout the year — including appearances at Pebble Beach, Auto e Moto d’Epoca in Bologna, and official Lamborghini gatherings in Germany and Japan. Across continents, the spirit of Polo Storico will meet with enthusiasts, owners, and the next generation of collectors.

Engine Notes: Why This Matters

At Engine Notes, we celebrate the rare, the remarkable, and there are few institutions doing more for the authentic preservation of automotive history than Polo Storico.

Whether it's flying a Diablo over the Alps or certifying the Countach that once led Formula One’s finest, Lamborghini is proving that legacy is not just something you inherit — it’s something you build, protect, and share.

As the collector car world continues to evolve — with rising valuations, increasing focus on provenance, and new generations seeking connection to the past — Polo Storico represents a gold standard. Not just in restoration, but in values: authenticity, transparency, and craftsmanship.

And in St. Moritz, for one icy weekend, that legacy shimmered in the snow and we had a lot of fun.
